VR&E · Chapter 31
Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E, VRNE): explore employment, education, training, and independent living support.
Visit the official program website →How VR&E works
Chapter 31 helps eligible people with service connected disabilities work toward suitable employment or greater independence. Your approved plan determines which services you receive.
Possible support
- Employment counseling and job placement
- Support returning to a former job
- Training for suitable work
- Support for self employment
- Independent living services when appropriate
What happens after applying?
A Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor evaluates your circumstances. If you are entitled to services, you work together on a rehabilitation plan. School funding is not automatic.
Where to apply
Veterans applying with an existing disability rating can use VA Form 28-1900. The official instructions also explain separate options for service members without a rating.
